Unless you see something in the release notes for the subsequent BIOS updates since my current version, I do not feel that updating the BIOS is in line with INTELs directions. Further the BIOS update documents very clearly states to update the BIOS on your computer only if the newer BIOS version specifically solves a problem you have. I'm using ubuntu server 9.10 64 bit with a 'Intel Corporation 82578DM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 06)', and found I had to change the script to this: ifdown eth0 modprobe -r e1000e modprobe e1000e ifup eth0 (without the ifdown & ifup eth0 was never configured up) I also changed the update-rc.d command to: update-rc.d 99-module-insertion.sh. However, in reviewing the release notes I do not find anything that indicates that the updates will solve the network adapter issue that I am having. I am assuming you would want me to update to the BIOS Update version. So it is not clear what if any update is available or would apply to my system. Intel(R) 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection Intel(R) 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection NOTE: Jumbo Frames cannot be configured on an 82579-based Network device if MACSec is enabled on the system. However, the site does not provide any updates for Windows 10 64 BIT OS. For information on how to identify your adapter, and for the latest Intel network drivers, refer to the Intel Support website. I checked my BIOS and it is BIOS Version/Date - Intel Corp. ![]()
